Ashanti's Afghan

Another thing I made in college was an afghan for my now ex bf Ashanti. He and I were together for 3 1/2 years, 2 of which I was at school. I wanted to make him a blanket, but he protested, saying crochet made holey blankets and he didn't like how his fingers and toes got caught in them. Ok then. So I made this all sc, using a J hook, and again Red Heart yarn. This was in Medium and Dark Sage. If their site is correct, medium sage is no longer made, which is too bad.

He and I are still friends. The afghan had been packed up for a few years last time I knew. His new gf didn't like having a reminder of me in the living room!

First Post!

For some of my first posts, I'd like to post pictures of some things I've made in the past, and write about them a bit.

So for the first post, I'll post the first thing I ever made. My afghan, which is proudly displayed on the back of my couch.

Here it is spread out over our old couch. I made this over a few years. I'd stop and start and stop and start again. I started it in late 1997 or maybe early 1998, during my freshman year of college at EC. I love the colors of it. It's made of Red Heart SS acrylic, in Wedgewood (the variegated), rose pink, country blue and country rose. I didn't finish this until 2 1/2 years later. It's big enough to cover my full sized bed with some hanging down around. I haven't tried it on the queen size yet. I'm very proud of this afghan. You can see in the middle it's quite puckered and if you could see closer you'd notice the stitches are very loose. After the first 10 rows I managed to catch on pretty well and the rest is fine. I did do other things over those 2 1/2 years, so this wasn't the only thing I worked on!
